About the Book

When Alice Lachman received an invitation to her grandson Bowen’s first birthday party, she had no idea that she would soon be creating an unforgettable, poignant collection of letters and stories for a time capsule to be opened by Bowen at a later date. Letters to Bowen: A Time Capsule chronicles the history, events, values, interactions, and enduring love of one family through the eyes of Alice—wife, mother, and devoted “grandmom” to little Bowen. Alice begins her loving legacy to her grandson with the story of his birth and continues with amusing and enlightening tales about his mother’s life, dreams that have both inspired and comforted her, and ideas from deep within her heart. While sharing her own hopes for Bowen’s future through her letters, Alice also incorporates additional stories about people she has never met, but whose personal stories forever touched her. Accompanied by family photographs, Letters to Bowen is a loving tribute to a family whose evolution of values, beliefs, and love is forever interconnected through not only generations linked by genes, but also by beautiful memories.
