“Look! There's a police car at Mama Brown's candy store!” Debra said as she nudged Chanise's arm. Chanise peered over her glasses, trying to get a better look. “Yeah, I wonder what happened. I hope everything's okay.” Before Chanise could finish her sentence, Debra was off running and yelling. “Come on, let's take a look!” By the time Chanise realized what Debra had said, Debra was halfway down the block. “Debra wait!” Chanise shouted as she tried to run and juggle her schoolbooks at the same time. The girls quickly came to a halt when they spotted a police officer leaving Mama Brown's store. The two sisters exchanged terrified glances. Not wanting to jump to conclusions, Debra approached the officer slowly and in a shaky voice asked, “Excuse me officer, is everything okay with Mrs. Brown?” The officer glared at Debra and Chanise as he intentionally blocked the entrance to the store. “Hold on you two, this is a crime scene! Leave from here immediately!” The girls shrieked in unison, “A crime scene!” Chanise, trying to find out what the policeman really meant asked, “What do you mean a crime scene? Has there been a murder?”

About the Book
Debra and her sister Chanise were born only 18 months apart. Chanise is the oldest of the two. Fact, they don’t always see eye to eye but when it comes to finding out what happened to their dear friend Mrs. Brown or Mama Brown as they affectionately called her, they would stop at nothing. That’s until Debra lied to the police and threatened their freedom. How will they uncover the mystery behind Mrs. Brown’s disappearance? It will take a family effort and the breaking of more rules to get to the truth.
As a little girl, I would make up stories and pretend I was solving mysteries. So, I tried to make this book unpredictable, full of twists and turns and yet leave you teary eyed at the same time.
I wrote this book to inspire, educate and entertain people, especially children and teens all over the globe.
The characters are modeled after my daughters, husband, nephews, and nieces. Their unique personalities shine through and once you’re finished reading this novel you will feel as though you’re apart of our family.
