About the Book

About the Author

Jo Huey has been working with persons with Alzheimer's disease in 24-hour care settings since 1986. She has a Certificate in Gerontology from the University of Denver and a Master of Social Science from the University of Colorado. Her Master's Thesis was Effectiveness of Training for Alzheimer's Caregivers. She is well known for her communication tool "Ten Absolutes". She is author of Alzheimer's Disease: Help and Hope. Jo served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Assisted Living Association 2004, President of the New Orleans Chapter of National Speakers Association 2005/2006 and in July 2005, New Orleans Magazine named her one of the Top Ten Female Achievers. She was Director of Alzheimer's Residential Care Homes, which she implemented in New Orleans in 1997. After evacuating those homes ahead of Hurricane Katrina, she temporarily relocated to the Chicago, Illinois area and has now returned to New Orleans. She founded her own company, Alzheimer's Caregiver Institute, in 1999. In 2007, she became a Certified Alzheimer Educator (CAEd) issued by the National Certification Board for Alzheimer Care.
