The ‘seeds’ of Small Beginnings I have heard arguments that some people are just born to be leaders, others followers and others observers. In as much as these arguments may hold water depending on how you look at it, the mind of a ‘Man’, has no limit as to what it can do. What limits and puts us into certain categories of life are our genetic make-up, beliefs, associations, mindsets and the attitude we acquire or develop as we grow. If you participate in the procrastination of starting a business with the destructive language of; ‘I don’t have the money to start’, I beseech you to stop today because there is a way out. The only difference is that, without money it takes a little time to get things done the way one wants but money is not and never needed to start a business but it is mostly needed to grow a business. My tools of small beginnings put money at the tail of the list of seed’s or capitals needed to start a business. i. Health (Life) ii. Ideas iii. Positive mental attitude iv. Action v. Patience vi. Humility vii. Prayer (God) viii. Faith ix. People x. Money There are a lot more tools available but these ten are what I most consider important and money happens to be the last of them. In as much as money is important, it would not be wise to say that nothing can be done without it as long as the other tools are available. Let’s create an instance and use it as an example just to illustrate the point above. For instance, if you go down on your knees and pray to God for money, since God will not be standing by you physically to hand over the money to you, he would use someone or something to get you the money you have requested if your prayer is granted. The money will not fall from heaven. So realistically, something obviously must precede your desire to get the money. Which therefore means that before the money comes, other things must happen first and those things do not necessarily require money. 1. You must recognise the fact that you have a need 2. Identify the need (Money) 3. Identify how to get the need (Ask God) 4. Act on the solution (Go down on your knees to pray) 5. Believe that you will get response (Faith) 6. Wait for response (Patience) 7. Behave whiles you wait (Humility) 8. God uses someone or something to help you (People) 9. Be alive and Position yourself to receive (Life) 10. Money comes Most of the people you respect and look up to as successful entrepreneurs today, all started their businesses with barely nothing in terms of money. Stop dreaming, Small Beginnings offers you the best strategies to get your business idea off the ground to an amazing start with or without money. It offers the reader practical strategies that has been tried and tested by many successful entrepreneurs. If properly and effectively applied, there is no way you will have that great business idea of yours sitting on the shelf due to the lack of money. I have used it and it has worked for me; and I believe it will work for you. Just make that move today and the rest will be a story worth telling. Just as one must master tenses before writing good essays, so must one acquire and understand the importance of starting small as set forth in the preceding chapters before starting a business without money. By following this, you will realise a whole new world of resources available to you that you knew not of.

About the Author

Bridge grew up in the Greater Accra Region, the capital of Ghana and later continued his primary and junior secondary education in a remote village in the central region of Ghana. He had his secondary education at Adisadel College in the central region of Ghana and graduated as a building technician from the Takoradi Polytechnic and also as a trained safety professional from the Academy of Occupational Safety and Health Training and he is currently pursuing his master’s degree program in business administration at the University of the Caribbean. After working with an HIV/AIDS organization for two years after his tertiary education, he started his own business called Link-Ups multi-ventures which did not do so well. He later moved on to start my second business called Bridges Media a TV production and advertising company which he managed for four years producing his first television production called ‘Small Beginnings” and later ‘Business Bridge’ which aired for three years on two TV networks in Ghana. Before introducing Taxi Advertising in Ghana. After being in media for about four years, he moved on to start a new business called Pinnacle Engineering which is a Civil, Industrial welding & Fabrication and Solar supply & Installation Company based in Ghana where he is currently the Managing Director.
