About the Book
Mayatenango is a fictional historical novel that takes place during the civil war in Central America in the 1980's. As a young and intrepid reporter, Marco Julio Carrasco, is whirled by the winds of fate to the land of the Mayas. A tropical paradise in the mist of a civil war. The novel reflects the painful journey forced upon this young man who is made to choose between good and evil. His future prophesized by a witch, a mayan priest and an opressed people, all who believed he had been their prince during the Spanish conquest of the Mayas. They, the people of Corn, have waited over five hundred years for him to deliver them from this Season of Darkness. Powerful magic and dark forces converge on his quiet life. He encounters two women: one will change him forever, the other, guided by the powers of the underworld, will cause his destruction. It is a dangerous configuration. About the Author
Joseramon Aguilar F. was born in San Jose, Costa Rica, in 1958. He studied journalism and creative writing at SFSU in San Francisco.He also received a degree in Political Sciense from Cal Poly State University, in San Luis Obispo. He worked as a journalist and in advertising in San Francisco. He has written two novels. He currently resides in Oakland, CA.
