By sharing her own experiences as an expat wife in China, and capturing these in real-life anecdotes, Sanet illustrates in various situations that the reality encountered by an expat wife is far from one's expectation. The experience of the spouse, especially a non-working wife, differs markedly from that of the international employee and it is this "differentness" in this unique and special culture that Sanet wants to share with future expat wives. Employers of expats would also benefit from gaining a better understanding of the spouse's experience, as this understanding could contribute to the success of the expat assignment.

About the Author

Sanet Mouton and her husband, Danie, lived and worked in China for more than two years where Sanet culminated a wealth of practical experience as an expat wife. With a passion for her family Sanet now spends her time raising their two children at home in South Africa.
