About the Book

This is the story of one Canadian couple who dreamed of taking a long trip through the United States on motorcycle and did just that. Their trip was one of discovery and exploration, lasting four months. This book is about They share an intense interest in the Civil War and visited many significant Civil War sites throughout the southeastern United States. They visited many interesting and fascinating places, travelled as much as possible on state and county roads, visiting well known as well at the less well known sites throughout the 35 states they travelled through. They sought out the best roads possible, always looking for twisting and turning highways. Above all else, it is about the bond shared by motorcyclists everywhere and the great people that this couple met along the way.

About the Author

Colin Nielsen spent 31 years as a member of the RCMP, retiring in 1997. He took up motorcycling in 2003, after buying a Honda 750 Shadow. Roney Cubbon, mother of three sons, began riding in 1995 when her children were grown. She first bought a 1994 Honda Shadow. Later she purchased a 2004 Honda Ace then a 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan for this adventure. One of the common past-times that brought Colin and Roney together in 2005 was a love for riding the open road on motorcycles. Within two years, they set out to fulfill a shared dream, to explore the US of A on their own motorcycles. They are now actively planning their next long term motorcycle adventure, be sure to watch the book stores for Part II in 2011
