About the Book

This assessment book consists of eighteen word search and eighteen crossword puzzle sheets, and solutions, ten words per page, using the 180 words taken from the author’s basic book, “A Children’s Picture-Word and Simple Sentence Book”. was designed to accompany the author’s “Children’s Picture-Word and Simple Sentence Book”, for the purpose of evaluating what the child has learned.

About the Author

Dr. Harry Irving, an African American, a retired school teacher, whose great grandparents were slaves, whose father was illiterate, could not read nor write and whose mother only had a fifth grade education, attended racially segregated public schools in 1940s and 1950s in his native state of West Virginia. Although his parents were poor and lacked a good education, they raised nine children and were wonderful parents. After graduating from high school in 1952, he served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, as a NCO. He holds AA, BA, MA, and Doctorate degrees.
