About the Book

This book is mostly about food…..and a little bit about life…..and really, how can one separate the two? On the most basic level we eat to live…..but on a more gastronomically enlightened level, you could say we live to eat. We eat when we’re happy……we eat when we’re sad: Cake to celebrate birth, chicken soup to get well, Haagen Daas to mend a broken heart. What do we do when someone dies? We bring a casserole! Let’s face it…….WE EAT! And in Britaly, we do it well. Living in Britaly is about great food and how to get it on the table without killing yourself. The recipes are home grown and the stories are true……well mostly…..and both are deliciously funny. Packed with healthful tips, tricks and shortcuts this cookbook will show you clearly and simply how to cheat in the kitchen, thus saving precious time for the important things, like facials, manicures and shoe shopping. Antonia will show you how to stock a pantry, pull dinner out of thin air and feed impromptu guests at the drop of a hat. No experience in the kitchen? Afraid of the stove? Or do you kill yeast just by walking down the baking aisle in the grocery store? No matter….culinary expert or hopeless novice, you CAN cook with this book and you’ll laugh while you’re doing it. Come on in and visit Britaly, you’ll find that great food doesn’t have to be complicated and it doesn’t have to take all day……it just has to be shared with the people you love.

About the Author

The author grew up in a small town in Devon, England. Her childhood and adolescence were spent, pretty much, astride a horse or hiking over Dartmoor in the company of dogs. Since leaving Devon, she has lived in London, Houston, Anchorage, and Boston. Happily married to the man of her dreams since 1997, she is now firmly anchored in Bellevue, Washington. She loves to travel, and likes to bring the flavors of places visited to her own table. When not cooking, gadding about the globe or writing, she meddles in her husband’s law firm, and maintains an expensive shoe habit.
