About the Book
The Apostle Philip tells the fascinating story of Simon (Peter), the older brother of his best friend Andy and one of the first disciples to encounter Jesus. Out of all those who witnessed Jesus for the first time, Simon is the one who changed the most and laid the foundation for future generations to share. A bit of a self-induced outcast and free-spirited wandering misfit, Simon is not a formal religious man who liked to follow the rules. He enjoys his life with his wife, Martha, and their son, Jude, but after he witnesses Jesus walking on the water during a storm, everything changes—not only in his own life, but in the lives of others. As Philip details Simon’s dealings with Mary Magdalene and Mark the evangelist, it becomes clear that Jesus has great plans for Simon. In this Gnostic tale set during the formation of early Christianity, Philip shares one man’s captivating journey of self-exploration, mystical experiences, contemplative insights, spiritual awakening, and eventual transformation, proving that once again, God works in mysterious ways.
