About the Book
When three strangers board an airplane in Chicago in October of 2008, they have no way of knowing they won’t be strangers for long. Bound for Gasper Clinic in Quebec, each of them harbors private reasons for embarking on this flight. Thirty-something Anne Delaney runs the largest privately funded program in Illinois. Her public appearance is that of a well-adjusted adult, but inside she feels like a poor little girl with nothing going for her. Anne hopes to shed some of her excess weight at the clinic’s sixty-day experimental weight loss project. Joe Collins is a thirty-five-year-old single writer caught in the rut of drinking and all-night poker parties. He plans on writing an undercover story about the clinic, but he secretly hopes he’ll get help with his addiction to alcohol. The pilot, David Rice, is a widower and former missionary in El Salvador who now oversees a large investment portfolio; he’s looking for a cure for his cancer at Gasper Clinic. The plane inexplicably crashes. The three survive the impact, but find themselves stranded in the cold Canadian wilderness. They must depend upon each other and their faith for a chance to return to their former lives in Chicago.
