About the Book

Dr. Anne Hogsett is the Director of Hospital Medicine at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas. In March of 2016, Josh Umholtz, the publisher of the newspapers in both Coffeyville and Independence, Kansas (The Coffeyville Journal and The Independence Daily Reporter) asked Dr. Anne to make a volunteer contribution to the health of the region by writing a weekly column in which she would answer any questions submitted by the newspapers’ readers. The column ran for 53 weeks in 2016 and part of 2017. So many people were asking for copies of previous columns that Dr. Anne decided to put all 53 columns in book form. Dr. Anne would like to remind everyone that as we continue to study, our understanding of medicine will change AND medical recommendations will change accordingly. Now that this book is finished, Dr. Anne is hoping to get started again. So, if you have more questions, send them in and then pick up the following week’s newspaper to get your answers!

About the Author

Dr. Anne Hogsett always wanted to be a doctor. Aiming for Med School, she got a BS in Chemistry from Oklahoma State in 1981. She returned to Oklahoma State and received her MS in Chemical Engineering in 1985. After 20 years of engineering, she finally wrestled her life around to medicine when she started Medical School at KU Med, Kansas City, in 2006. She completed the 3rd and 4th year of medical school at KU Med, Wichita. She then completed her Internal Medicine Residency also in Wichita, KS, in 2013. She and her husband moved to Independence, Kansas, where she went to work for The Sister’s of Mercy in their Primary Care Clinic and Hospital. Unfortunately, for Independence, that hospital closed in December of 2015. In January, 2016, Dr. Hogsett started working as a hospitalist for Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, in Coffeyville, KS. She serves as the Director of Hospital Medicine and has two great partners. She says working at CRMC is the best job that she has ever had, and she hopes to continue there until she retires. In March of 2016, the publisher of the newspaper for both Coffeyville and Independence, Kansas (The Coffeyville Journal and The Independence Daily Reporter) asked Dr. Anne to write a weekly column where readers could submit their medical questions, as a service to the region. This book is a compilation of 53 of the newspaper columns that were published.
