About the Book

Hello Dolly contains 12 short stories about the creation of man, woman and animal, and questions whether God who created man, woman and animal is, in fact, a man himself in the context of the first cloned Dolly was created by men, the scientists; it also argues about global warming, which is spreading beyond cultural and regional barriers; the desired checks on illnesses like cancer to show that health is really wealth; trafficking of children from poor countries by locals as well as Westerners on the pretext of adoptions; the common rivalry of business groups in a competitive world; and why and how perseverance always succeeds in life.


About the Author

The author was a professional and social work educator in Sr Lanka. He migrated to Australia in 1975 as a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers. He worked as a Senior Social Worker in Federal and State departments, holding higher positions in welfare agencies and institutions involved in childcare. As an administrator, he was responsible for placing over 500 orphaned and neglected children from Thailand, the Philippines, South Korea, India, and Sri Lanka, and from Vietnam after the fall of Saigon. The majority of children fitted in well into the Australian society. The author is a versatile writer and has contributed a series of articles and letters to leading national newspapers, community papers and magazines both in Sri Lanka and South Australia. He retired from the public service and has settled down in South Australia, now practising as a writer, author and journalist. The author has an Honours degree in Philosophy from the University of London, a Diploma in Social Work (Sri Lanka), a Special Certificate in Advanced Social Work (Philippines), a Higher Diploma in Advanced Freelance Journalism (Australia), a Master of Letters in Creative Writing (Australia) and a PhD in Creative Writing (Ireland).
