Having no memory of the betrayal which led to the tragic events that have irrevocably changed her life forever, super-spy Jess McCauley escapes from the manipulative and deceitful, Professor Charles, only to be informed that the family she loved is lost to her forever and that the professor has used her as a guinea pig for his genius.

An expert in subterfuge, Jess flees from all that has happened and is able to secretly return to her homeland in northern Australia where she believes she is well hidden from all those looking to harm her. However, her life soon becomes a lonely, paranoid existence as she keeps herself removed from society lest she fall back into the hands of her agency, the professor or the fellow agent who betrayed her.

Finally after years of self-imposed isolation she lets down her guard and opens heart to those around her once again. All too soon however, Jess realises what a mistake she has made by caring again, because she has been discovered and once more her loved ones are in danger.

Not wanting to abandon her new life, Jess vows to fight the threat which now faces them all, and in order to win she must accept the assistance of her inexperienced friends.

During her struggle, Jess discovers lost family, friends, love and finally, peace.
