About the Book

This book contributes to an understanding of the creative life of one artist, Pat Musick, over a forty-year period. Photographs document her drawings, paintings and sculpture as she develops from two to three dimensional considerations. Essays by twelve museum directors and curators accompany the images. Musick, whose work is in the permanent collections of forty-eight museums and public spaces in the United States, has an MA and PhD from Cornell, has taught at the University level and written three books. Her work has progressed from an expressionistic, figurative style to abstract. The current work of wood, steel and stone reflects harmony and peace in the environment.

About the Author

Pat Musick was born 1926 in Los Angeles, California. Musick studied art at the University of Southern California, Dartmouth College and Cornell University. She taught art at the University level for two decades and has written three books on art. She currently lectures throughout the United States with her husband, former NASA Astronaut Jerry Carr, who is her studio assistant and business manager. Her work is in the permanent collections of forty-eight museum and public spaces. Trained as a painter while studying with Paul Sample at Dartmouth, Musick’s work evolved over the years to include low-relief wall and finally fully three-dimensional sculpture.
