This project was fun and a pleasure to receive various contributions to put pen to paper. They reached in the past and fortunately recalled parents and grandparents who often used words from long ago. Future generations can now enjoy the gift of the memories that bring to our lips. For hope shall brighten days to come. and memory gild the Past!!Not - Moore 1. Regret is an appalling waste of energy, you can build on it, it is good only for wallowing! 2. A little bit of powder, A little bit of paint, makes little Margie, just what she ain’t! 3. Courage does not always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, “ I will try again tomorrow!” 4. Good, Better, Best...never let it rest until your Good is Better and your Better, Best!! 5. She ain’t much for Pretty, but she’s pretty much for Strong!! 6. She’s tighter that Dick’s hatband!! 7. Hearts...like doors will ope’ with ease to very, very little keys and don’t forget that two are these, “I thank you sir,” and “If you please.” 8. Eat when I’m hungry, Drink when I’m Dry... If the Brandy don’t kill me, I’ll live ‘till I die!! 9. The gum-chewing Girl and the cud-chewing Cow are both alike, but different somehow. The difference? Oh yes! I see it all now.. It’s the thoughtful look on the face of the Cow!! 10. Isn’t it odd... that a being like God... Who sees the Facade... Would still love the Clod... That that he made out of Sod? 11. Tell me and I forget...Show me and I remember... Involve me and I understand. Proverb 12. Grab a root... and growl !!! 13. I’ve got other fish to fry !!! 14 If you stop to be kind, you must swerve often from your path!!

About the Author
Betty Owen Whitehouse was born in the depression years in Gladbrook, Iowa, and became a Californian as a teen. She graduated from Modesto High School, married a soldier, and raised three sons. Whitehouse is the grandmother of ten and the great- grandmother of eleven. She now lives in Manteca, California.
