About the Author
Karl Hechavarria spent twenty eight years in the claims department of three major United States, Canadian and English property and casualty insurance companies. He has the following designations: Associate in Claims Fellow, Chartered Insurance Professional Associate in Risk Management Certified Fraud Examiner Registered Professional Adjuster Accredited Claims Adjuster (Florida) Throughout the years he was a member of multiple provincial claims management associations including the Insurance Institute of Canada, the International Association of Arson Investigators, secretary of the Ontario chapter of the International Association of Special Investigative Units, past chairman of the Toronto chapter of IICAR Canada and secretary of the Canadian Automobile Research and Training Association. He sat on numerous advisory boards and committees dealing with various insurance issues including the Insurance Bureau of Canada, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, the Insurance Crime Prevention Bureau and the Ontario Collision Reporting Centers. He has given various claims related seminars and written multiple in-house papers and programs dealing with catastrophe management and vendor selection process among others. He currently resides in Florida. He is married and has two sons, a daughter and two step daughters.
