About the Book
New Autobiography Urges Mentorship and Participation “One Voice” Speak Out, America-Raise Your Voice-It-Matters! MILILANI, Hawaii - The destruction and despair felt in the wake of Hurricane Katrina galvanized many communities and put a spotlight on the disenfranchised of the United States. That catastrophe and the images of its aftermath spurred many people into action. In the case of Ervin Hendrix, Jr., it was the catalyst to write his new book, “One Voice” Speak Out, America-Raise Your Voice-It-Matters! (published by Trafford). Hendrix opens “One Voice” with an impassioned plea to his fellow African Americans to stand up and assume their responsibility as role models in their respective communities. While “One Voice” is an autobiography, Hendrix uses the examples of his own life, both good and bad, to demonstrate the importance of strong role models. Through the life stories told in “One Voice” Hendrix lays out a mandate to responsible citizens from all walks of life to cast off complacency and work to guide young people and teach them what it is to be a responsible citizen and a responsible person. “One Voice” is an autobiography and a handbook about the importance of being a positive force in the community.
