About the Book
Many people enjoy the history of nations and cultures, of music and art, and many other subjects, but few even know that the Bible has a rich and fascinating history of its own. Revelations Of The Bible is about that history. It is a non-religious book about every aspect of the Old and New Testaments.
Revelations Of The Bible answers such questions as when was the Bible written, who wrote it, and in what language was it written; what were the historic, social, religious, and political influences on the contents; why are there two or more versions of many of the stories; what words and phrases had different meanings at the time they were written than they have now; when were the books in the Bible selected and why those books were chosen over hundreds of others that were available; what problems were encountered translating the Bible into English; . . . and hundreds of similar issues.
Discover what the Bible actually says about many of the burning issues of the day. Some will surprise you. See where the writings of contemporary cultures and archaeological discoveries support the Bible—and where they don’t.
About the Author
Darryl Dickey grew up in the Pacific Northwest and moved to Los Angeles with his wife, Arlene in 1963. Both an architect and an attorney, he has practiced in both fields ever since. He also taught both architectural and legal classes and lectured extensively. Biblical scholarship, especially on the New Testament, burgeoned in the ‘50s, and knowledge about the Bible is still expanding rapidly. Mr. Dickey got hooked on the subject about 25 years ago and has immersed himself in that scholarly research ever since. His copious notes resulted in this book.
