About the Author
As a result of completing Cycle to Walk Ramesh Ferris was nominated for the 2008 Ontario Premiers Award for Graduates of Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology and as Volunteer of the Year for the City of Whitehorse, Yukon. He received the 2009 Yukon Tourism Championship Award from the Government of the Yukon, was selected as an honorary torch bearer for the Olympic Games to be held in Vancouver, B.C., in 2010 and presented with a Paul Harris Fellowship from Rotary Foundation. After joining the Rotary Club in Whitehorse he was named chair of their PolioPlus committee. He is in the process of establishing the Ramesh Ferris Foundation to assist in the battle to eradicate Polio. You can find more information on his website at RAMESHFERRIS.COM. John Firth was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and adopted into the Yukon Territory. Growing up in Whitehorse and Dawson City he worked as a journalist, prospector, public relations director, theatre owner, financial advisor and is now a professional full time writer. He makes his home in Whitehorse where he is the chair of Yukon Foundation. In 1997 he received the Commissioners Award for Public Service for his work in preserving Yukon history and culture. He sits on the editorial advisory board for Up Here Business Magazine, the board of directors for the Yukon Arts Centre and is the author of two previous books, Yukon Quest (Lost Moose Publishing, 1998) and River Time (Newest Publishing, 2004).
