About the Book

There is a deep love for this young man as he gets off the mail truck in the small community in northern New Mexico. He has just been discharged from the U.S. Navy and he has returned to seek the love of the, once upon a time, unattractive girl that has now turned out to be a Cinderella. The small community is El Rito where this romantic comedy novel begins. It is a community inhabited by mostly Spanish speaking people who's ancestors were left there after the Spanish American War with mexico. The young man now tries to woe and persuade the beautiful girl, Tina Marie to marry him even though he had ridiculed her in her younger years. Tina Marie in retribution rejects him for the happenings of long ago past. In his perseverance for the conquest for Tina Marie, he entangles himself in some of the most hilarious events possibly imagined. This novel consists of perseverance of love, comedy, tragedy, an unspeakable double barrel shotgun wedding and ends with the most important word of all -- LOVE.


About the Author

Toby Manzanares was born in El Rito, New Mexico, a small mountain community in the northern part of the state. He graduated from high school in 1954 and ran away to join the Navy. Her returned to El Rito in 1968 seeking the love of Tina Marie whom he had seen two years previously when he was home on leave. In 1960, he went to work for the U.S. Government in Denver, Colorado, as a science technician after holding several jobs previously in New Mexico. He attended the University of Colorado at night where he eared a bachelor's degree in Geology. In 1967, he married Tina Marie; his long sought girlfriend. Toby and Tina had an only son, Steve James that is now married to his beautiful wife Lori Michelle. They in turn now have a beautiful daughter, McKenzie Nicole. Toby eventually retired from the Federal Government as a Geologist in 1989. This book is dedicated to Toby and Tina's beautiful granddaughter, Mckenzie Nicole.
