About the Book

The story of Esther is unique and interesting. As the plot unravels, the reader will finds himself caught up in the engaging happenings of Biblical times. It's a story of the Jewish people who endure great trials in a foreign country, but triumph in the end. Esther hides her Jewish identity, and risks her life to save the lives of her people. Her cousin, Mordecai, who raised her as his own daughter when her parents died, plays a major role in her life until she becomes queen. Although God, Himself, is not mentioned by name in the book of Esther, His divine grace threads the story, and His overshadowing presence is apparent throughout. Haman, chief minister of King Xerxes, persecutes the Jews, causing great fear among them. Mordecai refuses to bow down and honour Haman when the occasion calls for him to do so, almost leads to the destruction of all the Jews living in Persia. God's mercy and care, however, causes the Jewish people to prevail.
