About the Book

After volunteering in my children's elementary school library, it became apparent there are very few children's picture books depicting the time honored Canadian national holiday of Remembrance Day. This contemporary story examines the customs and traditions observed annually by Canadians through the eyes of young girl named Lou Lou. Kim Rumbolt's beautiful illustrations capture the innocence of the story's characters and the essence of the celebration, as Lou Lou learns how her grandfather fought in the Korean War and the importance of commemorating all war veterans. This children's picture book is written as a teaching tool for children to learn the history and traditions celebrated on Remembrance Day (the eleventh month, eleventh day at the eleventh hour).
