About the Book

Memoirs: Two - Sea Fever is a lively account of the seven years of "holiday time" that author Harry Furniss and his wife Enid spent exploring the B.C. coast in pleasure boats. Mind you, it took more than 40 years to rack up this astonishing record of "nights aboard" but looking back Furniss recalls each one a precious interlude of peace and relaxation from the perpetual grind of business life ashore. Many landlubbers are smitten with Sea Fever, the mysterious disease that drives otherwise normal people insane with desire to venture forth in total ignorance (and often total penury) to seek adventure on the bosom of the sea.

There is only one known antidote -- repetition.

About the Author

Boats have been Harry Furniss' passionate hobby for as long as he can remember -- and that's now over 80 years.

Toy boats made of tin bobbled in the bathtub when he was a baby; wooden models for sailing (or just loving) in the pond in the park; steamships for traveling abroad; and finally a modest parade of family pleasure boats which emerged first from his basement workshop and then commercial yards.

Every one a beauty, however crudely designed or built, in the eyes of a dedicated creator. And in which Harry Furniss has happily cruised Canada's west coast for more than 40 years. Oh Joy, Oh Bliss, to be stricken with such a sublime disease as Sea Fever.

Harry Furniss now lives in retirement with his wife Enid on Vancouver Island, where he is busy completing his third book of Memoirs entitled "Family Tales."
