About the Book

Pipe Dreams - Book One is the first of a three book series. Stanley Walker, the author, resides in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He says, "My dream will not be complete until I can do something for my community. The book is designed to make people aware of the growing drug problem in a story form." He feels, "Stories and movies do a better job of getting the point across."

Pipe Dreams - Book One offers a creative work of fiction based on facts that interweaves elements of intrigue and complex human drama into a descriptive narrative.

Centered on a man named Jerry, the saga unfolds as he loses his job and begins a downward spiral into the seedy world of crack. Jerry decides to start selling the drug so that he can make a lot of money. An evocative sequence of events ensues as Faye, Jerry's lover, becomes caught up in the drug culture also. Fast-paced twists, dangerous situations and pathos combine to render an original and brilliantly detailed study of the toll that crack takes on the lives of those who cannot escape its grip.

The author's intricate design, realistic dialogue, vivid descriptions, and multi-dimensional characterizations contribute to the imaginative nature of this chronicle.

About the Author

Stanley E. Walker felt prompted to write his first novel, Pipe Dreams - Book One, because of his personal experiences with crack. According to Walker, "The best way to deal with a negative past is a positive future. A positive future means helping others avoid the unnecessary potholes in life." He hopes that the lessons offered through the characters introduced in Pipe Dreams will help others avoid the same mistakes he made.

Walker makes his home in Pine Bluff, Arkansas where he and his wife, Demetria own the Aisha's Fish and Chicken restaurants. He believes that all things are possible when you recognize God in your life. In addition to writing, which he feels serves as a medium to relay messages to others, Walker also enjoys art, antiques motorcycles, weight lifting and bungy jumping. He is also training to become a certified substance abuse counselor.
