About the Book

Once upon a time, yes, once upon a time. This is not the prologue to a child's storybook. Au contraire. It is the life of a neophyte seminarian in the early 1950s when the world was nicer and simpler. Actually, what I'm trying to say is that the people of that age were less complicated and more down to earth.

It was a time before the Internet; when few people had television sets; when the biggest problems at school were gun chewing or tardiness. It was a time when Church services were done in the ancient language of Latin; when all priests wore their collars and nuns their full habits.

It is during this time that our story takes place. If you are old enough to remember this bygone era (or even if you weren't born yet), perhaps it will awaken fond memories of your own as we travel back in time to the mid 20th century.

About the Author

Dedication

I dedicate this book to the Fathers of Saint Sulpice, men of great learning but, more importantly than that, men of great holiness of life. They were models of spiritual perfection and goodness. If I have played a little hard with their eccentricities I am really showing our own faults and failures to be so much greater than the good Sulpicians. The bottom-line in all of this are the words of the seminary hymn "Ecce Quam Bonum" (How good it is for Brothers to live in common).

All proceeds of this book will go to The Brothers of Our Lady of Reconciliation
