About the Book
"Harry's Adventures in Plugovia" is a story designed to be read to children who are approximately four to six years old. It is also hoped that it will prove sufficiently interesting that older children will wish to read it for themselves.
"Plugovia" is the place where your bathwater goes and is inhabited by animals who talk and do most things that people do. Harry arrives there somewhat mysteriously and needs help from his bear Charles and a lady toad detective called Sleuth, to find his way home. Their adventures include being chased by water rat pirates and captured by quarrelsome shrews. Fortunately, they use their own ingenuity and, with help from Ragsdale Raccoon and Alena the Enchantress, they are able to return home safely.
Rhymes and signs also play an important role in this story.
About the Author
Grandad David is the pseudonym of David Hills who lives in Atlanta, GA with his wife Mary. David is an experienced Grandparent who has several children and grandchildren and a number of miscellaneous kids who are frequently found at his home.
Born in England, David has lived in Canada as well as the USA and still has relatives in Canada, England and Turkey.
David has spent his working life in the plastics industry mostly in technical and managerial positions and has only recently taken his writing more seriously. Early attempts at creative writing were humorous rhymes, mostly to be found in letters to family, or club newsletters with very limited circulation. Other "lost" efforts included spontaneous bedtime stories created to get his two daughters to go to sleep. The success of the latter did result in the daughters, who are now mothers, encouraging their father to write a children's book.
