About the Book
A book of poems written as the author, Yuriko Lipson, saw, felt, and experienced life around her. This anthology of poems represents her musings. She was born Yuriko Teruya in the village of Zakimi in Yomitan-Son, Okinawa. Yuriko's life began in 1944 during the Second World War. Her family was mostly farmers and she worked on the farm along with the rest of the family. Yuriko always had a talent for writing poetry. Since her early school years, she would write poems for her mother. They were usually about her throughts of life around her. Unfortunately, none of the early poems were saved.
In 1970 Yuriko married her current husband, a soldier stationed in Okinawa. Her propensity for writing did not diminish. She loved to write poems that she would read and then discard. Her horizons have since broadened through travel. Yurkio has lived in the northern and southern part of the United States as well as Germany. This gives her a very unique perspective on her view of the world. Hence the title, The World As I See It Through My Eyes.
Originally, Yuriko wrote a collection of poems and had them bound for her Sister's 73rd birthday celebration. All who read them encouraged her to publish her work. She began saving the poems and this handwritten collection is the result.
