About the Book
Rhyme Tyme-Just for Fun employs the genre of true rhyme and meter to bring an unconventional mood to contemporary poetry. The verses are inspired by themes of island living, new spirituality and ecology. This rare revival of rhyme explores its method with freedom and novelty. The approach creates a refreshing treatment that becomes both entertaining for the present day reader and respectful of pas masters such as Robert Frost, Oscar Wilde, Lord Tennyson, and Robert Burns. The author's work exemplifies the claim of Pulitzer Prize winner Mary Oliver who writes, "The truly contemporary creative force is somethiing that is built out of the past, but with a difference." (Handbook Harcourt Brace 11.) For this collection that distinctive difference comes from clever verse and the experienc of living on San Juan Island in Puget Sound, Washington.
