About the Book
Describes the experiences of a civil engineer who worked for over 14 years in Kenya and subsequently in Lesotho, Swaziland and West Africa , finally completing his career in the Solomon Islands in the Pacific.
About the Author
Trevor Barry was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1926. He graduated as a Civil Engineer in Trinity College, Dublin in 1948 and shortly thereafter accepted a post with the British Colonial Engineering Service in Kenya, East Africa. He remained in Kenya working for the ministry of works until Independence in that country. He then returned to Ireland and worked with contractors and Semi-State bodies until 1980 when he returned to Africa to work in Lesotho Ministry of Works, funded by the Irish Government.
At the expiration of this contract, he moved to Swaziland where he worked in the Ministry of works as a Senior Engineer, funded by British Aid. Finally, having completed short term Consultancies in West Africa and the Solomon Islands in the Pacific he retired to live near Kinsale in County Cork where he still lives with his wife. He has three children, a boy and girl who were born in Kenya and another son who was born in Ireland.
