About the Author

Glenda deVries was born in Toronto to Dutch immigrants. In 1986 she was introduced to Rene deVries, who was living in Holland, but staying in Sarnia, Ontario, in order to complete a university project on the environmental management of the Great Lakes. She married him in 1987 and moved to Holland to be with him. She studied sociology at the Rijks Universiteit in Groningen. They returned as a couple to Canada where she worked as a Registered Nurse and completed her degree in Sociology at York University in Toronto. They continue to live in Stouffville, Ontario with their two daughters, Amanda and Emily.
