The Badger Ruse is a thriller set in Dublin. Colin Chadwick, a business consultant, gets drunk at a marketing function and ends the night with a prostitute. This initial error of judgement sets a train of events in motion which results in blackmail, conspiracy and eventually murder.

Academic Qualifications

Ph.D. (Doctorate in Industrial Sociology), G.D.I.R. (Grad. Dip. Industrial Relations), N.D.I.R. (National Dip. Industrial Relations), F.C.I.P.D. (Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development).

Career to Date

Paul began his working life as a butcher in Dublin. He moved into production management, working for several years with Initial Services, a British multi-national. He subsequently joined General Electric and, over a six year period, held a number of Human Resource positions in manufacturing.

After G.E., he worked with Sterling Drug as Personnel Manager for the start-up of their highly successful Irish Plant. Subsequently, as Human Resource Director for the Pacific-Rim, he had responsibility for all personnel activity in the dynamic economies of South-East Asia.

Consulting

On his return to Ireland, Paul established PMA Consulting (1991). Since then, he has specialised in providing clients with customised Organisation and Management Development programmes. He has worked on a range of organisational improvement projects for blue-chip companies including Intel, CRH, Motorola, Oracle, Bank of Ireland, Pepsi, Glaxo SmithKline, Statoil, The World Bank, An Garda Siochana and Wyeth. Paul has run consulting assignments in more than 20 countries across 5 continents.

Outside Interests

Paul is a Director of Orion Executive Search & Selection.

Writing

Paul is the author of five books, 'Amie: The True Story of Adoption in Asia', (1990), 'Developing the High Performance Organisation', (1996), 'The Effective Consultant', (1999), 'Keeping Your Best Staff', (1999) and 'Turbo Charging the HR Function' (2001). He has also written numerous booklets and business articles on Effective Management.
