About the Book
A controversial title for a controversial subject. The sad reality of HIV is depicted by lifestories of a Doctor who becomes HIV positive while in the line of duty and a very successful businessman tragicly infected with HIV in a moment of uninhibited lust.
The two characters represent the two sides of the same coin-one infected innocently while one infected by giving in to his human desires to procreate, BUT both are infected with HIV. The way they ended up with HIV is pretty much irrelevant.
These tragic events in their lives affect both characters in different ways. Just as tragic are the affects on the lives of their loved ones and the subsequent sequence of events.
These catastrophic events lead to the question if there is any hope in this dire state of affairs. Form there the title: Hope In Vain.
This sad, but at times humorous life drama leaves the readers to answer this controversial question for themselves.
The story is set in two countries (South Africa and England) and as an unexpected twist of fate join as one story in the end.
By dealing with this controversial issue of HIV in a way depicting ordinary lives, it destroys the barriers of these hush-hush issues, encouraging readers to think about issues, setting the reader's mind free to explore fundamental questions surrounding HIV.
Some serious points to ponder and explore…
