About the Book

The Vermont State House is considered to be the most beautiful setting of a government building in the United States. The State House dome is painted in 24 carat gold, valued at $20,000.

What happens when three misfits from Boston hear about this on the radio? With Grand Isle seceding from this state, Montpelier on the move, and Burlington developing a waterfront beautification plan, the time is right for someone to act, and the Gilty Guys don't fool around!

Founder's Day is being celebrated in Montpelier, the Army is flying in a CH-54, "flying crane" helicopter, the international singing sensation, June Austin is appearing at the dedication of the Friskee-Faulkner Hospital Annex! Can anything more be happening? The answer is YES! And it does when the Gilty Guys swipe the helicopter, blow the State House dome and fly it to Lake Champlain!

The climax is as unexpected as the ruination of Vermont's greatest material asset, and the Gilty guys fly into immortality in Vermont's history.

About the Author

Born and raised in Rutland County, Gerald A. Hinckley has enjoyed all the advantages of being a native Vermonter, "Working hard for very little without much to show for it."

At a vulnerable age, he graduated from Upsala College, (where he played cornet with loose teeth in a marching band) finding out it was just as far to New Jersey as it is by bus. He then served overseas in the U.S. Army before investing in a paper towel and revolving door business. Unfortunately, the market dropped and he was wiped out before he could turn around. His motto has been "There's nothing wrong with mediocrity so long as you are good at it!"

In spite of these circumstances, Hinckley has survived his environment and now lives in Williamstown, Vermont with his wife Elaine, and a badly bent cat who lost an argument with a Mercury Cougar. He is currently on a life-long journey from obscurity to oblivion.
