Set in East Africa and the UK, the Reluctant Prophet is a compelling story about how a cynical journalist discovers the government is keeping a frightening secret from the British people. It is a secret which could affect the lives of millions of people because it involves one of our dearest loves - the fast food industry.

Journalist Peter Handley stumbles across the story when he makes contact with a young woman from the agriculture ministry. She tells him the government knows that virtually all the take-away food industry and packaged supermarket ready-made meals are contaminated by a kind of superbug. But they won't tell anyone about it.

But Peter is as captivated by her as he is by her story and it is not until his pursuit of the truth draws him close to a strange mystic living in Wales that he is able to see that this is an issue which could make or break his career.

As the story unfolds so the mystery surrounding Stephen Ellis, the mystic becomes deeper. Does he have the power of prophecy or healing? How can he be such an influence on how the story finally comes out? Why do so many people go to see him when all he wants to do is to be left alone?

Reluctant Prophet is a story of our time set in the near future. And although it is fiction, there is no escaping the feeling that it could be closer to the truth than many would dare say.
