About the Book

The story follows Dan Fletcher, who leaves a lucrative job with the Las Vegas Gambling industry with a vision of finding a native girl on a South Pacific island. His journey is cut short at his first port, a mere 90 miles from Florida, when he falls for an exotic Cuban beauty. From cigar smuggling to tracking down a despicable villain, Dan finds himself seemingly against all odds in his quest for romance and revenge.

At the heart of the novel is Lily Lopez, who we first meet when Dan encounters her in a Cuban discotheque. Lily turns Dan head-over-heels but she dreams of finding a rich Italian and living in Italy. Tragically, she learns too late the perils of looking for greener pastures.

Cuba is the setting for this partly-true novel that also takes a look at Fidel Castro's oppressive management of ten million people and emphasizes the shortcomings of the Communist management of a beautiful island.
