About the Book

Claire, a recluse held captive by the heartaches and secrets of her past, lives on a rambling estate with her daughter, Andrea. An unexpected visit from her grandson and his fiancée encourage her to examine the events of her life as she gradually reveals them to the young couple.

Through the eyes of Claire, we become acquainted with the previous inhabitants of Stone Gate: Claire's fragile, artist mother, a cousin with autism, his poet mother and physician father, the cousin's grandfather, servant and nannies. We meet Claire's husband, Tim, and his gregarious familly. We meet their children, Timothy and Andrea, Only Claire and Andrea now remain. What happened to the others? What is the dark mystery of the Fire Stone?

V.C. Keating lives in the country near London, Ontario. Keating, who has a background in nursing, theology and journalism, does consultative and volunteer work with persons who have autism.
