About the Book
"Sometimes Adventure Begins With An Event"... And as fate dictates, the instigator that led to the creation of this 'one-of-a-kind illusionary romp into the bizarre' was Lubec's infamous 'February Gale of 86'. Imagine a two-week non-stop, howling 'white out' of a blizzard!
Having secured my scallop diving craft to the mooring, I could do little else but snuggle up to the woodstove to 'weather' the storms fury, AND break a few dozen pencil leads! The isolations consequence was a non - stop writing marathon on a topic that had been brewing in the back of my mind for pretty near a year. 'Give an ear to this'- how would I (Hank) react if I should happen to flip open to the 'want ads' of the local newspaper to read, "All are invited - to hear and see - The Messiah - Lubec Bandstand - this Friday 8pm".
Naturally, I develop one of those 'must go see' attitudes, and with minor coaxing manage to recruit my pal Annabelle Lee Geezer to assist as an attendee to the published event.
And from that point on, it's off to Adventure land! With mysteries to solve, and stories to relate! This is truly a one of a kind experience! "Where is the Messiah" is unique, in that this novels script is an audio play presented to you in a compact readable book format! This affords you the opportunity to become an active participant, with numerous options. You can read the script to yourself silently, as you might read any book, or aloud if you wish.
Additional options will be discussed momentarily, but first here are a few notes that may assist this your first 'read'- Hank, as the lead character is engaged in dialogue on every page and he will either be A) talking to you as general narrator 'script in italics', B) thinking or talking to himself, also in 'italics', or C) speaking aloud to you the audience or to one of the books colorful characters, ' regular script in bold'.
Annabelle, our female lead only speaks thru this 'regular font', but she also shares this font with most other characters, when she is not involved in the conversation. Felix, who only converses with Hank, is represented by the 'bold Italics'
So, what might make for a few additional options? Well, for the most part since no more than two characters will be 'spieling forth' at the same time, you might rustle up a 'pal' of your choosing to assist in the multiple two - way conversations.
'A better yet' option would be this: Scare up about half dozen buddies and assign characters, read it aloud; pretend you're back in the 30's or 40's performing a radio play, and have a ball.
Of course a best-case scenario' would result in the ultimate of tape books: an in house full-blown audio production, complete with transitional music between chapters and various other special effects.
The books spiral binding, allows the book to be laid flat, thus facilitating multiple character reading ease. Stumbling across anything in parenthesis () indicates a special 'stage' instruction or sound, though most of this drama's idiosyncrasies will be left to your interpretive imagination.
So, here's hoping you too discover that 'Where is the Messiah' is not just any ole book of 'hum drum' proportions; but rather a narrative with soul, that delves into the theatre of the mind.

About the Author
Hank relates: "Back in college, my broadcasting professor use to quote us the popular radio activist of the 60's, Stan Freberg. "Oh sure!" he'd say "Television can stretch the imagination: a whole 19 inches!" Well today, despite the few inches gained from the advent of 'wide screen' technology, the situation remains unchanged. Television and the screens image enhancing abilities are and will forever remain limited by physical dimensions. Only the imagination of the 'audible' reaches for infinity, with limitations set only by the storyteller. Such was my indoctrination into script writing, a unique, 'as if speaking' style that has remained with me from the 'get go'." These days, ole Hank (a.k.a. Maine's 'The Sea Farmer') resides in the tiny but quaint 'most eastern' town of Lubec, where he has done so since his 1976 honorable Naval discharge as a Broadcast Journalist. Though Hank is presently employed as manager of the only green sea urchin hatchery in North America, and operates a bottom aquaculture lease site, for the cultivation of Clams scallops and urchins, his past is as diverse and varied as anyone might think. He has delved in just about every job description imaginable, from Disc Jockey to hardhat salvage diver. Hank has this as a final say: "If you ere venture to this neck of the woods; pop on in for a cup of Java, be glad to show you about; we can check out 'the infamous 'bandstand'; 'civil war hero with a gun statue', 'Lubec Lanes' and other points of 'novel' interest.
