About the Book
The wife of the main character (Peter) is injured in a car crash. The driver of the other car (Julian) swaps places with his own passenger. Peter, whose wife is now in a coma, is invited by Julian to take a holiday in Spain. Peter is lured in to Julian's drug trafficking.
The drugs are transported by a remote paravane beneath Julian's yacht, making detection impossible.
Peter works with the British Police to ambush the drugs distribution gang in London. The ambush fails when the gang blow up the warehouse. In Spain, Julian needs to replace the drugs lost, which he does by accepting another shipment at sea and then murders the suppliers.
On Julian's return to harbour, in his yacht, Peter connects a steel cable from his big 4x4 vehicle to the yacht. He underestimates the power of the yacht which finally breaks away and Julian escapes. A sea chase follows but Julian escapes again. Julian then surrenders secure in the knowledge that he will be freed because he can blackmail the Spanish Police chief. Peter tracks Julian again, this time by helicopter, followed by an underwater swim.
The helicopter is shot down but Peter releases the crew while under water. Peter boards the yacht and fights Julian and kills him. The source of the drugs is traced with the help of a girl in Liechtenstein and computer analysis in London. The head of the drugs ring is a very respected Bank Chairman in the City of London. Peter has difficulty convincing the Police that the Chairman is responsible.
He sets the Chairman up, so that he is caught in a compromising position in bed with drug addicted children, and photographs him naked except for a small poster held in front of him saying 'Pillar of the community'.
