About the Author
John Cawsey has seafaring blood from generations of sea captains, from his grandfather, great grandfather, and generations he has traced back to two pilgrim ships in 1605 and 1609, which sailed for Virginia to colonize America. The story of the seafarers from Appledore and Bideford, trading under sail, are well documented in the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, London.
Going to sea on his father's yacht at an early age in the Bristol Channel, it wasn't long before John captained a sailing vessel for a month's cruise in the Bay of Biscay, and then purchased his first yacht. This has led to a teaching career, and a licence issued by the Royal Yachting Association on behalf of the DTI to John's sailing school, Cutlass Sailing School in 1969. Further night school teaching and the development of course notes for day skipper and yacht master subjects, and John wrote a book of over one thousand pages covering all the subjects necessary to teach day skipper and yachtmaster subjects by distance learning, and continues to teach today as a yachtmaster instructor.
In 1979 John built a 36-foot yacht in his front garden and sailed it across the Atlantic and back. John has since sailed the yacht back to the Caribbean.
As a teenager John showed an interest in astronomy and joined a local astronomical society. He built his own telescope. This was the beginning of his search for the truth. What was out there in the sky?
Passing 'A' Level subjects in physics, chemistry and biology, pointed to the start of a career. At the early age of 5, John learnt to play the piano, and hoped his talent would allow him to embark on a musical career. By the age of 18 his musical career was abandoned, when it was evident that the life of a concert pianist would be too difficult. John entered Bristol University to study medicine, and 6 years later qualified as a dental surgeon. The secrets of life are locked in brain power, the controlling centre of living things. To unravel the secrets of the brain, John studied the brain and practised hypnosis, to try to understand the difference between our brain and a computer, and how we could develop a computer to think for us.
