About the Book
With the Allied invasion at Normandy at hand, the British send Major Waltstar (with the details of the landing) to be intentionally captured by the Germans. The Allies believe they can trick the Germans - that nobody would give a Major access to accurate knowledge about such an undertaking, and he must be presenting them with false information. To gain the confidence of his captors, Waltstar divulges details of the Canadian landing at Deppe. The Germans use his information to decimate the entire Canadian battalion.
In 2001, attempting to neutralize a small city in Afghanistan, the United States detonates a synapse bomb Ð a bomb designed to reduce enemy resistance by eradicating their values and morals. But something goes terribly wrong and the bomb affects not just the city, but the entire world.
At this same time a young college student, preparing to graduate, is attempting to make some sense of his career choice, his romantic involvements, and his life in general.
Pass the Thyme, Please weaves these stories together and takes note of the similarities and differences in large- and small-scale events.
