About the Book

I took up writing poetry on my retirement. In the last year I have had already published or soon to be published around 70 poems. Therefore, as the response was good, I decided to publish my own book.

Being a romantic many of the poems I write have a strong slant to interest the fair sex. I list a few poems as follows: "A Beautiful Woman", "Mum, why did you marry Dad?" "How Mary got her Man", "My First Passion", "Marriage the old-fashioned way", "She Pulls the Strings" and "The Boy Next Door".

On the serious side, I have written "The Day the Earth Trembled" which relates to the Boxing Day tsunami, which has been sent to many of the charities involved, in case they wish to use it for fund raising. "The Dance of Life" has been well received. "A Baby is Dying" has produced tears when reading to my audience. "The Telegram" has been accepted by the British Legion for their publication. "Di's last Goodbye" always catches attention.

I enjoy writing poetry and I enjoy jokes and humour, so I have combined to put them into verse. "Stars in your Eyes" involves Sherlock Holmes. "Surprise, Surprise" catches the sexy old man out. "Look at my Forehead" - very funny. "A Clean Sweep", "I'm in the Pink" and "Three for the Price of Two" have been successful.

Mother Nature is well covered in this collection. "Our Garden of England", "Autumn", "Stop and Stare", "The Wind - Friend or Foe", "The Flying Vee" and "Spring is nearly Here".

This book is written for ordinary folk to read and enjoy. It is easy to read with plenty of variation and you never know what is coming over the next page.

About the Author

I was born in West London and lived there for thirty years, since then in Tunbridge Wells and now reside in the Medway Towns at Rainham in Kent. I took up writing enthusiastically three years ago.
This year four collections of my poems in conjunction with other aspiring poets have been published in "Let me Express" "Love and Devotion" "An Ocean of Thoughts" and "Entangled Pathways" together with future publications and other anthologies.
I consider myself a romantic, enjoy humour and love the natural world in all its wonder. I believe my poems reflect this. One of course must not forget the importance of every day life and how it is changing day by day.
The Editor of "Let me Express" described the poets in that collection" Each gifted poet freely opens their mind as they present to you some of the finest work they have to offer".
The poem "The Day the Earth Trembled" affects everyone, making us all realise how lucky we are if the Boxing Day tsunami disaster has not touched any of us.
I trust I will live up to your expectations and you will enjoy the poems presented here.
In appreciation of my great friend Anna, who encouraged me to write poetry, I have dedicated this book to her.
