About the Book
This true story takes you on an emotional ride filled with the ups and downs of a young black girl growing up and trying to achieve the self-worth that was stripped away from her. Each page will have you on the edge of your seat and waiting nervously to see what happens next. My story is definitely one that you will not be able to put down once you get started reading it. You will share tears with me one second when reading about my struggles and my personal tragedies. As well as sharing "stomach aching" laughter with me. My story turns you from "the reader" into my very own personal confidant and friend. It invites you into my life, my family, my heart and my soul. What is more important, my story reaches out to everyone in helping me to help children! It is the ultimate goal to make adults aware as well as inspire them to help me in my plight to develop my very own Children's Foundation. Through my Children's Foundation I hope to not only help in instilling love and self-worth into them but to help inspire them and give them a healthy and happy future. My plight and my pledge to God is to see that no child ever hurts again due from the ignorance inflicted on them by adults. With me reaching out to help them to help heal their hurt, I pray they reach back to me to heal by calling...

About the Author
I grew up in a single family home raised solely by my mother. My dad was never a part of my life and spent 26 years in prison which was most of my life. They say that boys need their fathers and girls need their mothers, but I feel this is completely untrue. I feel both parents are needed in the nurturing and raising of a child despite the gender of that child. Your child needs a positive role model of each gender that they can go to, rely on and confide in to help them through life, as well as giving them the feelings of safety and security. Growing up with hardly any positive role models in my life I believe had really hurt me in dealing with and trusting men. It wasn't until I got to high school that I experienced what it was like to get to know and learn from positive men who weren't out to hurt me but to help me! It's been a struggle for me to tear down walls and overcome fears in dealing with the opposite sex but I have! Now I can open my mind and my heart to loving men and feeling more comfortable about being around them. I have a lot of growing up to do still but at least I'm on the right path. I know that I could have shared a million things with you here about myself but I chose this topic to help me heal and tear down more walls and to reach out to more positive male role models to help my process! I no longer want to live shielded or guarded but to live open and free! Thank you Micah Stanford for being part of that healing process!
