About the Book
"Images" is a fully illustrated book of poetry in keeping with the multimedia age that we live in- a medium size coffee table book that is a definite conversation starter. Most of my poetry has rhyme, rhythm, and stanzas.
The subject matter of the poetry is in four general categories.
- The natural world around us in all of its amazing variety and beauty with accompanying environmental concerns.
- Slices of my life from childhood to middle age.
-
Observations of, and comments on, societal problems and inequities.
- Fantasy stories that explore the "light" and the "dark", archetypal fears, desires and hopes.
About the Author
Tom Tindall was born on March 23rd, 1946, in Toronto and, a few months later moved to Clinton as a child of an Armed Forces family. Through childhood until the end of high school, he was used to moving every 3 to 5 years to a different part of the country and making a new set of friends at each new location. Meeting a wide variety of people, exposure to the mindsets of others in different parts of the country and being able to explore the geography of each place, expanded his mental horizons, was good fertilizer for a growing mind and made two cultural treks to Europe easy to do. He did his own research, planned his own itinerary and used a Euro rail pass to get from city to city in continental Europe.
In the 8th grade, Tom discovered that he had a knack for poetry composition. Since that time he has been writing poems and, during the 70s, had single poems published in a variety of publications. Work on an illustrated book of poetry began in the 1980s. An artist friend, Maryl Morris, was hired to do illustrations for the first draft of the poetry and also the front cover art. After being sidetracked by life work resumed. Another friend, Carl Ruttan, was hired to design the book cover concept and create the portrait for the back cover. He was able to combine his skills as both printmaker and painter to acheive the final result.
After almost two decades of evolution, the project was completed, published , and can be in your hands.
