About the Book

From the author: "Angel With Redbird Wings is a collection of short stories that reflect my life in one way or another.

"In every story there is a Redbird; either by mention of it or by knowing the author is the Redbird. The symbolism of the Redbird has inspired me throughout my life."

About the Author

Sherry Jane Sullivan is a native of Indiana. She holds an Associates degree in Nursing and various other educational studies such as criminology, management and interpersonal communications in her years of experience. Born 12/07/50 as Sherry Jane Teague in Linton Indiana, she moved between Kentucky and Indiana until her family settled down in Lyons Indiana. She now makes Jasonville Indiana her hometown.

This is Sherry's first published book, but she has many children's stories and poems that were written and given to very special people in her life. Titles like "Amber's Third Birthday Party", "Sail Away","A Penny For Your Thoughts" and "Message In A Bottle" come to mind. She also has a self-produced greeting card line called Redbird Creations. As circumstances and time allows she aspires to having her own specialty shop in which all items or services are "created" by budding artful or creative individuals.

Sherry's mother, Maxine, was a strong force in Sherry's writing talents. Maxine would write poems only to tuck them away fearing criticism. Many were beautiful as Sherry recalls, but sadly most were lost throughout the years. Angel With Redbird Wings will be preserved throughout the years as Sherry's proud presentation.

Sherry's father, Jim, was a peaceful giant in her recollections, but yet he fearlessly protected his family until the end. Her father's talent was music. He taught many in his family to appreciate the guitar and singing. Neither had to be performed professionally, but it lightened the hearts of all so it was a significant memory in her life.

Sherry admits that reading is not her favorite pastime, but her writing is therapeutic. She hopes to eventually author more published works but due to her current hectic lifestyle, writing has been put on hold. Her favorite author was the late Erma Bombeck and Sherry hopes to hone the skills that would help her write in similar fashion. "Newspapers report enough grief and misery so providing the reader a chance to drift away to laughter would be my preference," states Ms Sullivan.

When asked the significance of the color of an angel's wings, Sherry replied, "I believe if angels exist they do not need their wings to fly as gravity is no longer a concern to them. Heaven may even exist here paralleling our lives, so the wings are not really necessary for transportation. Perhaps the color signifies their personality or a special memory in their past. Mine are red because of the redbird and how it reminds me of my Dad and a special memory we share. I think of angels in comparison to butterflies. The butterfly was once in a cocoon and the angel (soul) was once in an earthly body. Guess what? When they both mature and go through their metaphorical change, they both have wings, colored WINGS!...Enjoy the possibilities."
