About the Book
This book is meant to show us a little bit about human nature, the wonders of our strange and unusual, yet beautiful world. It looks at many realms of our daily lives to man’s relationship with God and his fellow man. It reminds us of the heroes we look up to and the villains we abhor. It opens up bright horizons for us to ponder, as well as addresses the mysteries of life. It also challenges the scourges of war and terrorism, yet looks at life’s beginnings and endings and everything that’s in between.
It is my hope that this will bring a smile to your face, if even for a moment, or possible a perplexed frown as you ponder the possibilities it may pose in your own life, yet even perhaps change your outlook on the future. If it brings just one of these emotions to your hearts and minds, then I have accomplished my goal.
About the Author
Jim, who writes under the name of Simon Stargazer III, was born in Arbuckle California on January 28th, 1941. He was the only child of Dr. James W. and Hazel C. Haworth. Jim lived in Woodland and Oakland, California; Reno, Nevada; Duluth, Minnesota; Collinsville, Illinois; and St. Louis, Missouri. He attended High School at Olney Friends School in Barnesville, Ohio and College at Earlham in Richmond, Indiana. He lives with his second wife, Pat, in Indianapolis. They each have two children by previous marriages: Robin, Christopher, James and John.
After College he began work as an EKG technician. Being in the right place at the right time, he became the first cardiac catheterization monitoring technician at St. Vincent Hospital. This lead to the opportunity to becoming an Echo technologist, subsequently cross trained in OB/GYN, Abdominal and Neurological Ultrasound. He helped develop the Ultrasound Department at St. Vincent Hospital as well as the Echo Department at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He currently practices Echo and Vascular Ultrasound for The Care Group, LLC in Indianapolis, which is the largest privately owned cardiology practice in the United States.
Jim started writing science fiction around 1999 and delved into poetry a few years later as a way to express his positive insight. For the past several years, he has gathered his writings together and given them to his kids each Christmas. This book is the result of approximately four years of intermittent writing and a desire to share his wisdom, humor and uniquely strange view of the world with others.
