About the Book
Across the Bridge is a tale of a young Catholic Irishman who wants no part of the strife in Northern Ireland. Eddie Drannin wants a job as a mechanic, but as a Catholic, finds himself discriminated against and unable to obtain a job. He joins the IRA and builds a device which can activate car bombs by remote control. Eddie comes to realize the horror he is creating and attempts to get away, but he is offered one last mission.
About the Author
Richard Francis Shanahan was born in Co-Tipperarry, Ireland. He served in the Irish Army as a Corporal in the military. An engineer by trade, he worked for the British war department on gunlaying radars. He emigrated to Canada in 1953 and worked for GE as a radar field engineer on the early warning radar sites across Canada from Newfoundland to Quebec. He retired from IBM in East Fishkill, NY where he was a senior specialist in computer memory diagnostics.
