About the Book
Are you frustrated with your child's under-performance in school? Does he appear to have lost interest in schoolwork? Is she lost in the crowded classroom? Is Johnny easily distracted and inattentive? Does Janey tend to daydream? Does he respond to questions inappropriately? Is she having difficulty expressing herself coherently? Are his teachers complaining of lack of concentration? Does she have problems focusing, especially in the presence of background noise? Does it appear that his peers and siblings are moving along with little or no difficulty academically; while Johnny is left straggling far behind? Will she ever catch up, will she ever learn? These are some of the nagging questions that confront me daily in my practice as an audiologist. These concerns are from anxious parents and teachers along as they struggle with the problem of poor performance in the classroom. In order to address these issues we must have a clearer understanding as to what transpires when information reaches Johnny's brain for processing. How is this information managed when it reaches the brain?
