About the Book

This book traces the development of a Staff College for the National Health Service in Wales. In doing this it explores some important and far reaching issues in learning and leadership. The book examines the role of the Staff College in developing management, organisation and leadership interventions for the health service in Wales. It further examines the policy and cultural contexts in which new organisations emerge and develop. The book examines the development of the Staff College itself and evaluates the range of programmes and interventions it developed from 19995 -2001. Capturing organisational memory and history is considered vital if an evidence base for management, organisation and leadership theories is to be developed. This book seeks to contribute to that evidence base. The book will be of interest to all those involved in management, organisation and leadership development in both the public and private sectors.
