About the Book
Perhaps the best way to describe Barnyard To Wrigley would be to say, "Finally, the real story about baseball!"
Barnyard to Wrigley is a fantastic manuscript of baseball fiction, which follows a young player named Mike from his barnyard baseball beginnings, through his grade school years, to his excellent high school performances, onto the ultimate stage at Wrigley Field, only to return to his humble beginnings, while passing on the knowledge of the game.
Along this story's base path, Mike's advancement is assisted by many residents of the small farming community of Danvers, Illinois, his family, and a canine named Babe.
The storyline is driven by "The Ring", which serves as a symbol of baseball, as it is handed down from generation to generation. Barnyard to Wrigley will provide older readers the inspiration to pass on the knowledge of the game, while younger readers will be inspired to dream of baseball success.
Barnyard to Wrigley is a must read for all past players of the game and all of those, that dream of finding baseball or softball success.
About the Author
Myron Schroeder, is one of America's most successful softball coaches, with nearly 2000 softball victories in his coaching career. This 57-year-old Illinois native has been very successful within the coaching ranks, with his teams capturing numerous World and National softball championships.
Coaching both girls and boys at all age levels has allowed him to explain the feelings of the main character, while he advances up the ladder of baseball success. His coaching experience has allowed him to describe how coaches handle specific situations to their advantage, while writing their players' success stories.
Myron believes that the main purpose of writing Barnyard to Wrigley will only be achieved if the knowledge is passed on to those that dream of baseball or softball success. Perhaps that is why the above photo is so symbolic of the author, seen with his grandson, Tristen, whose T-ball team he coaches, along with coaching high school and middle school girls' softball, girls' summer travel softball, boys' instructional baseball, and boys' summer softball, within his residing community of Downs, Illinois.
Myron has been married to Martha Jane (Kilander) for 33 years and has three children, Leslie (James) Papp of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kyle (Robyn) Schroeder of Muncie, Indiana, and Darcie (Aaron) Culbertson of Downs, Illinois. He is grandfather to Tristen (Hall) and Lauren (Papp).
He retired from the Illinois Dept. of Transportation in 2002 after 31 years of public service and from United States Army Reserves in 1995 after 27 years of military service. He attended Danvers Grade and High School at Danvers, Illinois and Canton Community College in Canton, Illinois.
Myron truly enjoys the game of baseball and hopes he has brought some of that enjoyment to others through the pages of Barnyard to Wrigley.
